National song and dance competition 2015 opens in Thai Nguyen

The event, held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every three years, aims to evaluate the quality of artistic activities and operations of professional art troupes over the past three years, as well as put forth the development orientations for the next years towards preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of 54 ethnic groups across the country.

The opening ceremony brought audiences song and dance performances by the Thai Nguyen art troupe, boosting the unique cultural values of the land and people of Thai Nguyen and the province's tourism potential.

The competition is expected to uncover new talents and create a chance for artists to meet and discuss experiences in the field of art.

The competition will run until May 27.
