I
still
remember
how
much
I
cried
when
I
watched
Le
Thuy
playing
the
main
character
in
the
play
named
To
Anh
Nguyet
or
in
some
other
plays
such
as
“Ao
Cuoi
Truoc
Cong
Chua”
(Wedding
dress
in
front
of
the
pagoda
gate)
and
“Luong
Son
Ba,
Chuc
Anh
Dai”…
I
do
not
really
know
how
and
when
I
became
addicted
to
her
voice
and
the
characters
she
portrayed
in
those
plays,
but
I
know
for
sure
that
many
Le
Thuy’s
fans
love
her
down-to-earth
yet
wonderful
performing
style
with
a
sweet
and
terrific
singing
voice.
The
mixture
of
contralto
and
soprano
in
her
voice
is
so
unique
that
one
cannot
find
it
in
any
other
singers.
Actress
Bich
Hanh
spent
all
her
childhood
with
her
parents
at
the
Kim
Chung
troupe
where
she
grew
up
and
became
a
well-known
actress.
It
seems
she
got
every
chance
to
be
successful
in
her
artistic
career
as
her
parents
were
working
for
a
long
time
for
the
Kim
Chung
troupe,
starting
in
the
North
and
then
later
moving
to
the
South.
But
having
the
good
start
was
not
enough;
she
still
had
to
try
very
hard
to
achieve
her
stardom
among
many
other
famous
stars
in
the
cai
luong
world,
which
she
did!
However,
the
glory
she
earned
in
her
long
career
from
all
the
hard
work
did
not
help
her,
a
very
devoted
artist,
to
continue
performing
on
the
beloved
cai
luong
stage.
The
traditional
music
was
always
a
poor
relation
compared
to
auters
occidentalized
musics.
Before
April
1975,
with
the
National
Academy
of
the
music
with
Saigon,
the
classes
of
traditional
instruments
and
arts
traditional
did
not
attract
large
world.
The
professors
of
traditional
music
had
the
complex
of
inferiority
opposite
the
professors
of
Western
music.
More
than
60
zitherists
at
home
and
abroad
joined
in
a
concert
t
at
Ho
Chi
Minh
City
Conservatory
of
Music
that
is
part
of
dan
tranh
(sixteen-string
zither)
art
program
2014
to
take
place
in
the
city
from
June
30-July
4.

The
real
name
of
the
well–known
actor
Viet
Hung
was
Nguyen
Huu
Hung.
He
was
born
in
1923
in
Nha
Trang,
a
coastal
city
in
central
Vietnam.
Because
of
hardship,
he,
along
with
his
mother
and
his
elder
sister,
moved
to
Da
Lat,
a
highland
city.
They
later
settled
in
Saigon.
Modern
vọng
cổ
is
made
up
of
six
phrases
of
thirty-two
measures.
A
noticeable
cadence
ends
each
sub-phrase
of
four
measures.
At
this
cadence,
all
instruments
(and
the
vocalist)
come
back
together,
usually
hitting
the
same
note.
At
eight
measures
before
the
end
of
a
phrase,
the
song
loan
is
tapped
twice
consecutively
by
the
leader
(usually
the
đàn
kìm
player)
to
signify
that
the
phrase
is
ending.
On
the
last
measure
of
a
phrase,
the
song
loan
is
tapped
once
more
to
make
sure
everyone
ends
together.
At
that
point,
the
performers
may
move
on
to
the
next
phrase,
transition
to
a
different
song,
or
end
completely.

After
learning
that
the
Hoa
Binh
Theater
is
going
to
have
a
liveshow
for
NSUT
Ut
Bach
Lan
,
I
decided
to
pay
her
a
visit.
Her
small
house
on
Tran
Hung
Dao
Street
looks
the
same
–
still
the
lonely
hammock
where
she
usually
sits
to
study
her
lines
and
the
Buddha
altar
with
incense
burning.
Ms.
Ut
is
a
lot
skinnier
now
but
her
smiles
are
still
friendly
and
warm.
She
softly
said,
“At
65
years
of
age
and
after
40
years
in
the
same
career,
I
am
very
happy
to
still
be
able
to
sing.
I
am
very
grateful
for
the
ancestors
of
Cai
Luong
and
my
beloved
audiences.”
People’s
Artist
Bach
Tuyet
is
well-known
for
her
sweet
singing
voice
in
the
Cai
luong
(reformed
opera)
circle
in
Southern
Vietnam
and
has
been
called
Cai
Luong
Chi
Bao
(a
precious
gem
of
Cai
luong
).
Dedicated
to
the
traditional
musicians
of
Vietnam:
“May
their
Art
flourish
and
their
creativity
be
reborn”
The
Vietnamese
have
produced
several
worthwhile
books
about
music
but
these
have
remained
buried
in
the
relative
obscurity
of
the
Vietnamese
language.
The
dramatic
life
and
death
of
Thanh
Nga,
a
hugely
popular
cai
luong
(reformed
theatre)
artist,
has
been
immortalised
in
a
new
picture
book
that
carries
almost
100
monochrome
photographs
of
the
legend.
An
international
press
conference
was
organised
on
May
23
in
Hanoi
to
update
reporters
on
information
of
the
East
Sea
situation.
In
her
increasingly
public
dispute
with
contest
organizers
an
ethnic
minority
woman
in
northern
Vietnam
described
her
life
as
a
beauty
queen
as
"miserable."
The
governments
of
three
southern
Vietnamese
provinces
where
foreign
invested
companies
suffered
damages
in
recent
riots
on
Friday
pledged
to
support
investors.
As
a
child
growing
up,
I
remember
my
mother
saving
the
best
cuts
at
dinner
for
me,
making
sure
my
clothes
were
ironed,
that
I
had
books
for
school
and
saw
a
doctor
every
time
I
ran
a
temperature.
At
that
tender
age,
I
already
knew
that
all
a
mother
ever
wants
is
for
her
children
to
be
healthy,
develop
well
and
thrive
when
they
grow
up.
A
national
festival
dedicated
to
traditional

musical
genre
will
be
held
in
the
southern

of
Bac

from
April
23-29.
The
development
of
the
favorite
art
form
‘Đờn
ca
tài
tử’
in
southern
Vietnam
has
gone
along
with
famous
stars
and
‘super’
rich
figures.
Many
of
them
fell
in
love
with
each
other
but
their
love
stories
often
did
not
last
for
a
long
time.
In
the
comedy
genre
in
Saigon
before
1975,
Phi
Thoan
was
considered
the
very
first
comedian
who
invented
the
art
of
impromptu
jokes.
The
laughter
from
the
audience
seemed
to
reflect
the
wholesome
image
of
the
hard-working
farmers
in
the
South,
who
are
joyful
and
optimistic.
Because
he
was
born
and
brought
up
in
the
South,
he
thought
of
his
hometown
Tra
Vinh
as
a
cradle
that
nourished
his
dream,
a
true
hick’s
dream
of
becoming
an
artist.
At
"Thien
Nhai
Tu"
temple,
a
young
sadi
with
the
name
Tran
Tu
Tam
(Nghe
Si
Minh
Canh)
led
a
peaceful,
carefree
life
of
a
monk.
One
cloudy
day,
a
girl
called
Nhuoc
Thuy
(Nghe
Si
Phuong
Lien?)
came
out
of
nowhere
and
gave
him
a
letter
which
told
of
a
horrendous
murder
that
took
place
20
years
ago
that
involved
the
deaths
of
Tran
Tu
Tam's
parents.
He
learned
that
his
folks
were
brutally
killed
20
years
ago
by
a
traitor
in
their
group
and
that
Tran
Tu
Tam
was
lucky
enough
to
escape
with
the
help
of
a
kind
man
named
Du
Phong
(Nghe
Si
Thanh
Sang)
who
ran
off
with
him
and
left
him
in
the
temple
to
be
raise
by
the
head
monk.
The
letter
also
stated
that
now
was
the
time
for
Tran
Tu
Tam
to
resume
a
layperson
life
and
seek
revenge
for
his
parents.
The
2014
Ha
Long
Carnival
will
take
place
in
Ha
Long
city,
the
northern
province
of
Quang
Ninh,
on
April
30
night,
announced
the
provincial
People’s
Committee.

While
most

would

the

written
by

the
King

is

of
the

greatly

a
