The 13th Vietnam Poetry Day opened in Hanoi, Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh northern provinces from March 2-7.

This year’s event with the theme of islands and seas presents a present a comprehensive picture of Vietnamese literature’s value and achievements.

Poets of the Vietnam Writers’ Association and members from poetry clubs and universities nationwide together with soldiers of the Vietnam Naval High Command, the High, and international poets from the UK, France, Brazil, South Africa  and Pakistan join the event.

Sidelines activities included exhibition on Vietnamese and international literatures, art street featuring calligraphy and parallel sentence, and performances of folk art.

On the occasion, the third international conference to promote Vietnamese culture and introduce Vietnamese literature to international friends also opened in Hanoi on March 2.

About 150 Vietnamese and international writers, poets, translators and researchers from 40 countries and territories are gathering at the event.

The second Asia-Pacific Poetry Festival opened at Hanoi Opera House on the same day.

The festival is an opportunity for the country to promote Vietnam’s beautiful and serene landscapes and present its poetry to its international friends. Vietnamese poetry lovers will have a chance to enjoy famous poetry works by well known poets of the world. It is also expected to be a rendezvous for world cultures to merge and present the diversity of different cultures of other countries.
