It is reported that local man Nguyen Van Ninh, from Thanh Sen village, Phuc Trach commune, Bo Trach district found the cave while searching for wild honey in the woods. The cave is located in an area called Na Choi, about a two hour walk from the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Ninh said the cave is pristine and has no trace left by humans. The cave door is around 2.5m high, 3 meters wide and is divided into three compartments. The cave inside is high and wide, containing large stalactites.
Ninh reported his finding directly to officials of the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
The management board said it would conduct a survey of the new cave as soon as possible.
It is expected that well-known British expert on caves, Mr. Howard Limbert, will be invited to join the survey.
